Apple pie like the mother load of comforting desserts. But I just have such a hard time leaving good enough alone. I had to take a beautiful apple pie and mess with it. And thank goodness I did.

I was all pleased with myself for coming up with this creative alternative for a Thanksgiving dessert. I was thinking about how easy it was to make, how I love the sweet and tart apples with the sour cranberries. How the ginger and cinnamon turns the biscuit topping into a lovely caramel color and how those spices give just the right flavor to the fruit.
