I have been meaning to post these pictures for a couple weeks. They are from Pia’s 6th birthday party which was a “Hawaiian Luau Theme!” (her choice!) where we had so much fun! Just wanted to share…

These Gorgeous Leis and head pieces were made for the girls by our neighborhood florist Jeannie and her team that we love!!! She is at Metropolitan Market Uptown (thank you Jeannie!!!) The little girls felt so special and beautiful having “real” leis…

Luau Birthday Party

I made a Childs “photo opp” by using a large bulletin board covered in turquoise wrapping paper and goofy paper decorations.

Luau Birthday Party

Here are the two munchkins trying it out before their friends arrived…

Luau Birthday Party

For decorations I used tons of paper garlands and brightly colored hanging fans and paper balls. I just kind of hung them everywhere.

I also put plastic hibiscus flowers in all of the potted plants to bring a tropical flavor to our garden!

Luau Birthday Party

I hung about 100 plastic leis and a bunch of grass skirts from all of the chairs and door handles. The guests just piled them on! And all of the kids took them home at the end of the evening.

There was also the funnest sweetest face painter that came and painted all of the childrens faces (and, ahem, some of the adults)

For Drinks, we created a “Sand Bar.” The grown ups had Strawberry Margaritas and Coconut Banana Daiquiris.

The kids drank their Mango Strawberry Smoothies out of little plastic Coconuts!

Hawaiian Pulled Pork Sandwiches
Zesty Ginger Noodles
Green Salad with Mango Vinaigrette

Hula Hooping

Luau Birthday Party
Besides Hula Hooping and face painting, These were the activities that were out for the kids to do.

Make your own Sea:
Put out small bottles with corks
A Funnel
Glitter
Tiny Seashells
Water colored with turquoise food coloring
Vegetable Oil
Label tags

Combine a little bit of the glitter and seashells in the bottle (use the funnel to get it in there). And then add 2/3 colored water and 1/3 vegetable oil. Shake and create your own Sea! Let kids decorate a tie on label to keep track of theirs.

Luau Birthday Party

Make your own rainbow:
Put out Mason Jars
multi colored candy
Marshmallows (the clouds)
Scoopers or large spoons
Label stickers

Let the kids scoop the layers of candy into their mason jars and top with marshmallows and close the lid. Let kids decorate a round sticker with their name and stick it on the top of the jar.
