Chive Cream Cheese
May 28th, 2012
I am a sucker for a good bagel. A crispy, toasted, chewy bagel. Preferably sesame. Very occasionally, homemade.
The only way to improve on this, (in my opinion) is to slather it in this Chive Cream Cheese. I am typically obsessed with scallion cream cheese- but my herb garden is in the middle of a chive takeover. So guess what folks? It’s gonna be chive city this week. Luckily, I love the delicate onion flavor of these little guys. And the blossoms are even more special, as they taste lovely and have beautiful little lavender blossoms.
If you don’t have the blossoms, no worries, just chop up some fresh chives.
Add them to the soft cream cheese.
I used a hand mixer to blend them together, but you could just get zealous with a fork too.
Prepare a bagel to your liking.
Slather it on!
Bite.

Wow – is it possible to get a good bagel on the west coast? I live 3 hours from NYC and there are plenty of folks here who insist even we can’t get a good bagel. New Yorkers are VERY particular about their bagesl (and pizza, too)! I say a good bagel is any slathered with lots and lots of good cream cheese. Personally, I think good ol’ Philly is the best.

lol! probably not! that is so funny. I was just in New Jersey and the bagel I was eating totally repelled the locals because it wasn’t decent!

Though I disliked my old job, I always looked forward to bagel Friday so I could slather chive cream cheese on an asiago bagel. I need to make this so I can top it with lox, etc. Love it!
