A citrus themed party
January 24th, 2012
A dear friend of mine hosted a charity dinner at her home this last weekend, and I was very happy to come and help her with the table for her wonderful party!
We really wanted to embrace all of the citrus fruit that was in season, and used pile after pile of navel oranges, blood oranges, cuties, kumquats and then also added lovely red pomegranates.
Piles of orange, coral and shades of red roses filled the arrangements and then I nestled some of the fruit into the arrangements (using skewers to get them to stay put)
In an interesting twist, I also added radishes to the red arrangement because I loved the color and texture and the little scraggly white bottoms.
All of the arrangements were put into white ceramic containers and placed on simple square white cake plates. Around the base of the containers, but on the cake plates, I piled the fruit.
I loved the cleanness of all the white with the bright vibrant flower arrangements.
There were gold chargers and white and gold china, clear glass wear and one gold trimmed water glass.
There were wonderful touches, like little sherry glasses (votives would work for this also) filled with chocolate covered pomegranate seeds and little boxes of chocolate truffles wrapped in Italian paper at each spot.
Serve these Blood Orange Champagne Cocktails to go with the theme!
I hope these ideas inspire your next winter party!
*Also- note to everyone- all of this stuff was purchased at Safeway and Costco, so it is totally readily available!

What beautiful decorations! Looove it!

What an absolutely stunning table display! I think people forget citrus like oranges and lemons are actually winter fruits and don’t think you use them this time of year. Plus, you can eat the fruit when you’re done!

Almost forgot – so what did you have to eat? I’m sure the food must have been just as delectable as the flowers!

LOVE this!! I am having a dinner party this weekend and I was stumped on what color combo to do for the flowers but after seeing this I know what to do. What is your advice on when to arrange the roses? Should I do it today (for Saturday) or wait til the day before.
