Spiced Cranberry Prosecco Punch

Spiced Cranberry Prosecco Punch

Our new Thanksgiving tradition is to invite our friends and siblings (that spend Thanksgiving with in-laws ) over Thanksgiving morning. While I am busy cooking away, friends and family roll in open house style and help themselves to Bloody Mary’s and pumpkin scones and pumpkin muffins.

Basically I now host a Thanksgiving morning cocktail hour. Please, no judgment.

This year, in addition to Bloody Mary’s, I am also going to put this incredible Spiced Cranberry Prosecco Punch. This is a recipe that is totally inspired by my sister-in-law Natalie, who is Southern, and a heavy proponent of alcohaolic punches. (Is that a Southern thing? Or a Natalie thing?)

Spiced Cranberry Prosecco Punch

I recently shared this recipe, which is filled with sparkling prosecco, cranberry and orange juices and is wonderfully and subtly spiced with cinnamon sticks, with InStyle magazine. Uhhhhh, pretty awesome, huh?

They also used my tip for individual servings of veggies and dip that you may remember from this event, but is great for Holiday parties.

If you want to check this article out, which is called “25 ways to dazzle your guests” it is in the food and life section in the December issue of InStyle, out right now!

Now a little more about this totally delicious and gorgeous punch. When I took the pictures of this punch, I sorta forgot to put the orange slices in. whoops. (Just in case you were like- “where are the orange slices that she said to include?”) Blood oranges are the prettiest, but regular oranges are fab too.

Spiced Cranberry Prosecco Punch

Because we do things like host morning cocktail hours, we are going for the optional inclusion of 1 cup of bourbon. But you could also make this punch non-alcoholic by swapping out the prosecco for sparkling apple cider. I have done this before, and it is totally amazing, and a great option for kids and adults.

Spiced Cranberry Prosecco Punch

This Spiced cranberry prosecco punch would be wonderful for any holiday where there are people at the house all day. I especially like how it is ”serve yourself” so the hostess doesn’t need to worry about refilling glasses while simultaneously trying to bang out an entire dinner. It would be wonderful if you are having an open house over the Holiday season.

Spiced Cranberry Prosecco Punch, makes 20 servings
-2 trays cranberry ice cubes
-1 bag party ice
-4 cinnamon sticks
-zest of two oranges
-5 cups cranberry juice
-3 cups orange juice
-2 bottles prosecco
-2 oranges or blood oranges, sliced
** If you want a stronger spiked punch, add 1 cup dark rum or bourbon.

Cranberry Ice Cubes:
Fill two ice cube trays with frozen or fresh cranberries and then fill them to the top with water. Freeze until solid, about 4 hours or overnight.
