Snowball Martini

If by any chance you caught my segment the other day, or happened to read up on my Silver Holiday Décor Ideas, you may have heard me mention something about a cocktail. A “snowball” martini to be specific.

snowball martini

This is a drink that I thunk up a few years ago when I had a surprise Birthday dinner for my hubby. It was in January, and the theme of the table was much like the one that I did in my segment the other day- wintery, frosty and kinda glam.

This martini fits the bill on all accounts. I know it is still November, but I suspect some of you are already in the snowy mood, and anyone thinking ahead to Holiday parties should know about this. Also it is 11/11/11 today!! CRAZY. I need a drink just to digest that.

It involves cotton candy. I know that sounds crazy and high maintance, but I assure you it was easy as pie. I bought a machine at Toys R Us for $35, and have gotten a freaking ton of use out if it. In fact, besides for unusual cocktail making, I am going to spin tiny cotton candy poofs on paper straws for Coco’s 2nd Birthday next week. Super cute.

Plus, even is you do spend 5 extra minutes (which is like nothing compared to how much people will freak out when you make this for them!) making the white cotton candy, it will be worth it.

I just pour plain old table sugar in this machine and this stuff comes out looking like a legitimate snowball, don’t you think?

Then comes the booze. Weird booze. Whipped Cream flavored vodka kind of booze.

I actually thought it was going to be disgusting. But good news! Turns out it’s not gross at all- it freaking great. Especially when paired with tart fresh lemon juice and poured over this dose of sweetness.

You can make the sugar rims days ahead of time by simply rubbing the edge with lemon juice and then gently pressing it into a dish full of sugar or non-perils like I used.

Snowball Martini, makes 1
-A Martini glass, rimmed with sugar or white non-perils
-A “ball” of white cotton candy
-2 shots Whipped Cream flavored Vodka
-1 shot glass of fresh squeezed lemon juice

1) In a martini shaker filled with ice cubes, put in 2 shot glasses of whipped cream vodka and one shot glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice.

2) Shake well.

3) Strain over the cotton candy, “melting” the snowball and infusing the cocktail with sweetness.

yeah, that should give you the idea.

  18. Heather Christo says:

Wrong! hopefully they WILL be jacked up on sugar!! (and having the time of their lives!) I crashed a lovely Halloween party with my sister where they were just coincidentally serving those goul-tini’s I made with the poprocks (more candy) and people were having a great time! The other cool thing if you wanted to do these for a Halloween party is that you could literally rim all of the glasses in sugar and make the cotton candy snowballs the day ahead of time and just line em up. However, unless you are crazy like me, or a massive martini drinker, that may involve renting martini glasses- but the good news would be you don’t have to wash them afterwards!
