Nutella Cookies with Dark Chocolate and Sour Cherries

These cookies were made for my little girls. I know they seem like they may be kind of adult flavors- but my kids are weird like that. They like black coffee and dark chocolate. They are their father’s girls.
The Nutella is for Coco in particular. She is a serious lover of Nutella and will eat it by the spoonful. Here is a video of her first time eating Nutella. (When we were in NYC a few months ago, room service brought little jars with the toast. )
This recipe also features my new favorite cocoa powder: Hersheys DARK. They are not kidding when they say dark! All you have to do is look at the pictures to see that. It is like almost black- and it tastes richer too. Fantastic stuff that is reasonably priced!
So besides the Creamy nutella and the dark cocoa powder, there are also chewy sour cherries and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Funny enough- the coco is so dark that the chocolate chips look like milk in comparison!
Enjoy these cookies- they are a wonderful indulgence and even better with a glass of cold milk ☺

Nutella Cookies with Dark Chocolate and Sour Cherries, makes 2 ½ dozen
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
½ cup Nutella
1 ½ cups flour
1 ½ cups good quality cocoa powder
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
16 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
2 cups dried sour cherries
In the bowl of a standing mixer, beat together the butter and sugar until fluffy.

Add the vanilla and then the eggs, and beat until well combined.
Add the Nutella and mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda.
Add the dry ingredients to the bowl, and mix until just combined.

At the end, gently mix in the chocolate chips and the cherries.

Scoop in rounded spoonfuls onto a silpat or parchment lined sheet pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-11 minutes.

Let cool and Enjoy!

These look absolutely amazing, and your daughter is seriously one of the cutest kids I’ve ever seen! I love chocolate and cherries together. I’m definitely making these eventually…I hope my grocery store carries the dried cherries!

Hilarious video of CoCo – she’s my kinda girl!
The cookies are my kind of treat, too….love DARK chocolate … and dark coffee….and sour cherries….and Nutella. I’m glad you mentioned Hersey’s Dark Chocolate – I’ll try it.
I’m glad to see Nutella becoming popular stateside. I’ve been enjoying it for years as Nutella is a must-have in other countries.
